BANASOM is led by a mechanical engineer with more than two decades of hands-on experience as a service engineer, product specialist, sourcing consultant and director in the medical equipment industry. Technical judgement sits at the top of the organization, not at its periphery.

When I started BANASOM in 2014, I had already spent eleven years inside this industry — first as a service engineer opening up machines that had failed, later as a product specialist and sourcing consultant deciding which machines should be bought in the first place. Both roles taught me the same lesson from opposite ends. The failure of medical and scientific equipment in our country is very rarely a failure of the machine. It is a failure of the process that surrounds the machine.

A ventilator arrives without the circuit that fits it. An analyzer is installed in a room whose power supply cannot hold it. A cross-linking system is delivered to a hospital where no one has been trained to run the treatment protocol. A research laboratory receives a sequencer and waits eight months for the library preparation kits. None of these are engineering problems. They are problems of knowledge and of integrity — of a supplier who did not know enough, or who knew and said nothing.

BANASOM exists to close that gap. We are deliberately an engineer-led company. Before we quote, we ask what the equipment is going to be used for, how many patients or samples a day it must carry, who will operate it, and what happens when it needs a part. We put those answers into the specification. And when the equipment lands, our own engineers install it, test it, validate it and train the people who will use it.

Over the last twelve years that approach has taken us from a single fundus camera delivery in 2015 to complete ultra clean operation theatres, national research center laboratories, intraoperative neuromonitoring systems and dialysis fluid production plant. We have been trusted by the Directorate General Defense Purchase, the Department of Shipping, the Bangladesh Coast Guard, NITOR, the Bangamata National Cellular and Molecular Research Center, and by many of the country's leading eye hospitals and private medical institutions.

The technology we handle is changing quickly. Artificial intelligence is entering diagnostic imaging. Sequencing has moved from national facilities toward departmental laboratories. Operation theatres are becoming digital, integrated and robot-ready. Our commitment is to bring that generation of technology into Bangladesh responsibly — properly specified, properly installed, properly supported, and properly taught.
